Kieran Trippier hosted a Q&A on his Instagram on Friday evening, and during that session, he named former Tottenham star Mousa Dembele as the one player he misses playing with.
Every footballer has that one teammate they wish they could still play alongside, and while Trippier could have named a number of talented players from his Spurs days, he says Dembele is the one he really wishes he could still share a pitch with.
To be fair, it’s not hard to understand why.
We can imagine you’d feel incredibly safe as a defender with Dembele marshalling the midfield in front of you.
The Belgian was one of the strongest players in the Premier League in his day, and he quite simply never seemed to give the ball away.
Dembele may not be the best player Trippier ever played with. After all, he has shared a pitch with the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Luis Suarez, but he is a perfect teammate in the fact that he was incredibly consistent and brilliant at what he did.
Perhaps one day Trippier will play with Dembele again, but with the Belgian leaving Tottenham in 2019 at the age of 32, his career may begin winding down soon.
