Kieran Trippier has welcomed Newcastle United’s newest recruit Sandro Tonali to the club after his long-awaited move from AC Milan was confirmed on Monday.

This is a big coup for the Champions League club and manager Eddie Howe because it signals the intent that they are looking up in their quest to rumble those who have dominated in the past.

Once the news about Sandro Tonali was announced, Kieran Trippier posted on his Instagram story ‘Welcome to the Toon’, with the Italian midfielder signing a contract at Newcastle United until 2028, as they posted on their website.

Tonali joins Newcastle

A box-to-box midfielder, who is only 23, Howe has a lot to work with here and he has the chance to take his game to serious, serious heights.

The fact that Tonali has already won a league title and played in the Champions League helps matters for the Magpies and those he will play alongside.

It has been suggested that Tonali has joined for a transfer fee of £55 million (Sky Sports), which in this current transfer market, is pretty good.

Declan Rice v Sandro Tonali

The Englishman is joining Arsenal for a fee above £100 million, when you compare that to Tonali, then the question has to be asked, who got the better deal?

It wouldn’t be a surprise if many point towards Tonali, who would have had a few extra million added to his name if he was already a Premier League player and English.

Either way, they have similar traits. Aggressive without the ball, the ability to carry the ball forward, commanding in the middle of the park and the ability to grow into a possible goalscoring midfielder.
