Kieran Trippier struggled in Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has told ESPN that he had to build his confidence back up after the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in December.
Spurs racked up a third straight Premier League win on Saturday afternoon by beating Huddersfield Town 2-0 at Wembley Stadium, continuing to strengthen their grip on a top four place.
It’s now 11 Premier League games without defeat and 17 in all competitions for Spurs, with their last defeat coming on the 16th of December away at Manchester City.

Spurs were dismantled in a 4-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, and one player who struggled in a torrid evening was defender Kieran Trippier.
The former City full back was torn apart by Leroy Sane in that game, and subsequently lost his place in the side for the next two games to Serge Aurier.
Trippier has made five Premier League appearances since the City defeat as Pochettino continues to rotate him and Aurier, but he has now reflected on his terrible night at the Etihad Stadium.

Trippier has told ESPN that his confidence was shattered after that 4-1 defeat, and he had to build himself back up again after watching the game back and speaking with his teammates.
Trippier added that he is learning from his mistakes and is building his confidence back up again, having returned to the Spurs side quickly after his nightmare at City.
“I’m one of those guys who’s honest,” said Trippier. “It obviously wasn’t the best day for me. City were unbelievable that day. When we looked back at it, we knew we had to move forward. It wasn’t one of the best games I’ve had, I’m honest about that. But I’ve had a lot of games since then to build my confidence back up. I just watched the game back a couple of times and looked at where I went wrong. We spoke about it as players as well. You move on. Man City were on fire that day, they deserved to win, and you just move on and try to win games. That’s how you build confidence.”
“I made quite a few mistakes that day and you can only learn. I’m still quite young so I’m willing to learn from the manager or from players. I had a bad game and I’ve learned from it. I’ve learned from my mistakes that I made in that game and I try to work hard on them as hard as I can, week in, week out on the training field. You can only get that confidence by playing games. I got a good run in the games. Every opportunity I get I just try to take and do my best for the team,” he added.
