Tottenham Hotspur are expected to challenge on all fronts this season.
Tottenham star Kieran Trippier spoke exclusively to Sky Sports about his side’s desperation to win a trophy, highlighting the Carabao Cup as a perfect opportunity for them to end their 10-year wait for a major honour.
Mauricio Pochettino has worked wonders since taking over at Spurs, but the Argentine will be keen to win a trophy sooner rather than later.
The 46-year-old has earned rave reviews for the job that he has one in north London, but he has received criticism from some quarters for failing to deliver a major trophy during his four-and-a-half years at the club.
Trippier spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, and admitted that Tottenham’s failure to win a trophy recently has been because of a lack of trying:
“Every season since I have been here we have tried to win a trophy. We have been so close as well. This year we are still in a few competitions. Wednesday will be a tough game but hopefully we can go there with the right mindset to get the win and go through to the next round.”
Spurs face Arsenal at the Emirates tomorrow night in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup, and they will have to be at their very best, if they are to progress through to the next round.
Tottenham are also in contention for the Premier League title. They currently sit in third position in the table, just six points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.
The Champions League represents another opportunity for the Lilywhites to win a trophy. They face Borussia Dortmund in the last 16, but once again, Pochettino’s side will have to play to their absolute maximum potential, if they are to bring back the biggest prize in Europe.
