The Celtic defender has been linked with Arsenal but he can develop his game in Scotland and should be in no rush to leave.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are interested in signing Celtic defender Kieran Tierney this summer, but the 19-year-old would be wise to ignore any interest from elsewhere for at least another year.

It would be easy to suggest that every Celtic player will, sooner or later, head to the bright lights of the Premier League if there is an offer on the table. But it would also be foolish.

Brendan Rodgers has done a fine job since arriving at Celtic Park and Tierney would be wise to stick around and see what is in store next season.

Celtic have two of the most exciting young talents in European football right now in the form of Tierney and Moussa Dembele, and rather than leaving they should remain and attempt to bring the glory nights back to the club with a sustained run in the Champions League.

With the right additions this summer, Celtic could build on their runaway success in the Scottish Premiership and make real waves in Europe.

After all, they showed glimpses of what they can do in this year’s competition and they will only be better 12 months on.

Tierney may in time opt to swap Scotland for England but there is no rush.

The future looks bright for Celtic and for now they should withstand any offers from elsewhere for their star names and focus on building a whole new legacy.
