Celtic star Kieran Tierney has revealed that he is in constant touch with Patrick Roberts, and wants the Manchester City player to rejoin him at Parkhead this summer.

Tierney developed a strong friendship with Roberts during his 18-month loan spell at Celtic Park.

Roberts, who played a major role Celtic’s winning of the historic domestic treble, has returned to Manchester City following the end of his loan spell.

Tierney wants the 20-year-old to return to Glasgow, and showered praise on his abilities.

I would be delighted if we were able to get Patrick Roberts back, I really would,” said Tierney, as quoted by The Scottish Sun.

“He showed last season what he can do and he was part of what was an incredible season for us.

“Ideally I am sure that the manager would like to keep that whole team together for another go at it again for this season coming but it will be what it will be.

“I am on the phone to him all the time – I am telling him every other day that he would be better back here for another crack at it!

“It is out of my hands but I spent a full season on at him so here’s hoping it might have had some effect.”

Roberts snubbed the chance to be a part of England under-20 World Cup winning side by opting to stay and help Celtic win the historic treble.

Earlier this month, The Mirror reported that Brendan Rodgers is keen to keep the youngster on a permanent deal.

Roberts joined City from Fulham in 2015 for a reported fee of £12million, but Celtic are willing to pay just £5million.

The Sun claims that Roberts is determined to impress Pep Guardiola during the pre-season as he dreams of playing in the Premier League.
