Celtic star Kieran Tierney has admitted to The Scottish Sun that he is flattered by some speculation linking him to bigger clubs, but suggested that he could remain at Parkhead for his entire career.

The 20-year-old has been Celtic’s first-choice left-back for a little over two years and has since emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders.

As a result, speculation over his future is never too infrequent and The Mirror reported this week that Manchester United were weighing up a £25 million move for the youngster.

Leigh Griffiths (L), of Celtic celebrates scoring the opening goal of the game with team mate Kieran Tierney during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Kilmarnock...

Tierney, who has been at the club since he was seven, signed a long-term contract in October which keeps him tied to the Hoops until 2023.

The Scotland international claims that he was “buzzing” over the length of that deal, and says that he wouldn’t rule out staying at Celtic until he retires in comments which should delight fans of the Scottish Premiership giants.

He told The Scottish Sun: “When top clubs like that show an interest, it’s flattering because it means you are doing something right. It’s good to see stuff like that, but I’ve just signed one of the longest term deals at Celtic and I could not be happier with it. I was buzzing when it came.

Vykintas Slivka of Hibs tackles Kieran Tierney of Celtic during the Betfred Cup Semi-Final between Hibernian and Celtic at Hampden Park on October 21, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“I’ve been here for 13 years now and that’s a long time. I wouldn’t put it past me to stay here for my whole career.

“It could happen but you never rule out anything. I’ve had injuries, I’ve seen it with players before.”

Whether it happens or not is one thing, but Tierney is spoken like a man clearly committed to the Bhoys for now and it’s unlikely he’s going anywhere in the short term.
