Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League last month.
Celtic ace Kieran Tierney spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times, and admitted that he and his teammates are still dwelling on their exit from the Champions League to AEK Athens last month.
The Hoops have been totally dominant domestically over the past seven years, but their performances on the continent have left a lot to be desired.
Brendan Rodgers’ men will be competing in the Europa League this season now, following their exit from Europe’s premier competition.
Tierney spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times, and admitted that missing out on Champions League football this season is proving particularly hard to stomach for him and his teammates:
“We know we could have done a lot better, especially in the Champions League and we know that. It was a particularly sore one in Athens because we had the quality to beat them but we didn’t use it which was the most disappointing thing.”
Next up for Celtic is a trip to St Mirren tomorrow night, before they play their first Europa League group game of the season at home to Rosenborg next Thursday night, and Rodgers’ men will be desperate to kick of their continental campaign with three points against the Norwegians.
