Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has revealed his experience of training with teammate Kolo Toure to The Daily Record.

Toure joined Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in the summer transfer window after leaving Premier League giants Liverpool at the end of last season.

The 35-year-old defender may be past his best, but the former Ivory Coast international remains a very good footballer.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City centre-back has a lot of experience and has won the Premier League title twice, first with the Gunners in 2003-04 and then with the Citizens in 2011-12.

Tierney, who is only 19 years of age and plays as a left-back, is delighted to be playing with Toure.

The Scotland international has shared his experience of training with the former Liverpool centre-back the first time.

“Kolo is brilliant,” Tierney told The Daily Record. “I trained with him on his first day, it was actually just the two of us training, and even then I could tell just how experienced he was by the way he spoke to me.

“From that day I knew he was a great guy to have in the team and in the dressing room. The way he commands the team, how vocal he is, is really impressive.

“I had a knock and he was just in so it only two of us out there. But even the way he went about his fitness training, so dedicated, so committed, was brilliant to watch. Straight away I knew what he was like and that he was someone we needed in the team. He’s been a great signing.”

Celtic are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with six points from two matches.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are a point behind Old Firm rivals Rangers, who are currently at the top of the standings.

However, the Bhoys have played a fewer game and are favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.
