Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has praised his team on the club’s official website for the way they scored the winning goal against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in the Old Firm derby last weekend.

Ibrox club Rangers suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership last Sunday.

Midfielder Olivier Ntcham – who joined Celtic from Manchester City in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £4.5 million – scored the only goal of the match on 62 minutes.

Celtic left-back Tierney has praised the team for the way they score the goal, and the 21-year-old Scotland international has also hailed his teammate and 22-year-old French midfielder Ntcham.

Tierney told Celtic’s official website: “The counter-attack to get the goal was brilliant. The willingness for everyone to get up the park was phenomenal. Ollie’s composure to finish was brilliant.

“He works hard, like we all do, and he thoroughly deserved the goal. It summed up our performance. We deserved to win.”

Regarding confidence

Celtic’s failure to progress to the group stage of the Champions League this season must have been bitterly disappointing to the fans, but the Hoops’ win against Rangers last weekend means that confidence is back among the players at Celtic Park.

The Bhoys will now be looking to put together a run of positive results in the Scottish Premiership and start dominating proceedings like they have in recent seasons.
