Celtic suffered defeat in their most recent game, but Tierney is tipping the side to bounce back.

Kieran Tierney has insisted that Celtic remain confident of reaching the Scottish League Cup final despite their hopes of staying in Europe being dealt a huge blow in their most recent outing, The Scottish Sun reports.

Brendan Rodgers’ men hosted Borussia Monchengladbach at Parkhead knowing that, with Barcelona and Manchester City in their group, the two teams were most probably competing for third place and qualification for the Europa League.

And it was the Bundesliga side that took home the three points to leave the Hoops bottom of the group and in desperate need of a win when they meet again in Germany in November.

The result is obviously less than ideal preparation for this weekend’s League Cup semi-final clash with Rangers. But Tierney has claimed that the Bhoys still have plenty of belief.

“We are looking forward to it. We will recover now over the next few days and we will go into it still confident,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

“It wasn’t the result we wanted but we need to pick ourselves up because we have a big semi-final on Sunday.

“It is the semi-final, we are one game away from a cup final and at Celtic that is what it is all about – getting to finals and trying to win cups.”

While Celtic were ultimately disappointing in midweek, Rodgers will surely be telling the players that the goals were simply down to mistakes, and thus, they should not read too much into the loss right now.

They have made a brilliant start in the Scottish Premiership, and have the psychological edge having beaten Rangers comfortably in September, so as Tierney suggests, they have more than enough reason to be confident despite the recent disappointment.
