Celtic left-back Tierney, 20, hopes that the Glasgow giants are able to sign Roberts from City before the summer trader window closes next week.

“I hope so, there’s obviously been a lot of speculation but nothing’s done yet, but I hope he is,” Tierney told The Scottish Sun when asked about Celtic unveiling Roberts at Celtic Park on Friday.

“I’ve been speaking to him and there’s obviously been a lot of jokes on social media which we send to each other which is good, it’s funny but yeah I hope he is.”

Roberts is a very talented and tricky winger, and the former Fulham youngster would be welcomed with open arms by Celtic fans.

The Bhoys will be aiming to win the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup this season, as well as make an impact in the group stage of the Champions League.

Signing Roberts would enhance the quality of the current Celtic team and make them even stronger than they are at the moment.
