The young Celtic star was complimentary toward three of his Bhoys colleagues.
Speaking to Herald Scotland, Celtic defender Kieran Tierney believes training alongside some of his team-mates have helped him become a better player.
The 19-year-old is arguably the hottest teenage talent in Scottish football following an excellent couple of seasons for the Hoops, who won a domestic treble under manager Brendan Rodgers last term.
Tierney is in line to take part in Scotland’s upcoming clash with England in a World Cup Group F qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday week, where he could come up against Manchester City ace Raheem Sterling.
But the young left-back says that facing players of Sterling’s quality will be no surprise given that he regularly tests himself against the likes of James Forrest, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair in training every day.
“Sterling is a world class player and when I played against him in the Champions League this season it was a good battle. That’s what makes you a better player, testing yourself against players of that quality,” he told Herald Scotland.
“At Celtic, I do it in training against James Forrest, Paddy Roberts and Scott Sinclair – they are the best as well. For me, training against these guys every day makes me a better player.”
The trio are, of course, fine footballers in the Scottish Premiership, but coming up against the likes of Sterling is likely to help the youngster’s game come on a bit more.
In fact, The Mail reported in August that Manchester City, Sterling’s club, are interested in bringing Tierney to the Etihad next season. His stock has certainly risen that bit more following another fine season, and he is one who Rodgers could struggle to hang on to beyond this summer.
