Arsenal pulled off a late win over Vitoria Guimares thanks to a brace from Nicolas Pepe.

A pair of Pepe free-kicks gave the Gunners a 3-2 victory, after they had fallen behind twice. Gabriel Martinelli had scored for Arsenal in the first half.

Defender Kieran Tierney was back in the rotated side and he was one of Arsenal’s better players on the night, setting up Martinelli’s goal.

He sent a message to Arsenal fans talking up the team’s attitude.

Tierney is hoping he might have done enough to convince Unai Emery to finally start him in the Premier League.

He now has two Europa League starts, and he has assists in both. It’s a positive start for the former Celtic defender.

Tierney completed 88 per cent of his passes, and made two interceptions, more than any Arsenal defender. His three clearances was also a team high.
