Conor Townsend joined West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window.
Townsend joined West Brom from Scunthorpe United in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Birmingham Mail to be worth £750,000.
The left-back has played just 135 minutes of Championship football for the Baggies so far this season, according to WhoScored.
West Brom left-back Gibbs, who has actually been deployed as a left-sided wing-back this season, has revealed that he has been helping Townsend.
The 29-year-old England international – joined West Brom from Arsenal in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Express & Star to be worth £5 million – has also praised 25-year-old left-back Townsend for being enthusiastic.
Gibbs told West Brom’s official website about Townsend: “Conor’s learning well. He’s a really enthusiastic kid and wants to learn a lot.
“He asks me every now and then about different situations in the game and stuff like that. I’m trying to help him as best I can just from what I’m learning as well.
“I’m trying to pass on as much information as I can for when he is needed. It’s a long season and he could be needed at any point – a situation I’ve also been in before.”
Pushing for promotion
West Brom are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
Darren Moore’s side are second in the Championship table at the moment with 24 points from 12 matches, just a point behind leaders Sheffield United.
