Former Newcastle United maestro named the best 11 players he had ever played with.
Former England international Kieron Dyer has named the best XI he ever played with.
Five former Newcastle United colleagues feature, but controversially he picks an unpopular figure over club legend Alan Shearer.
Dyer made the selections for SkySports’ Fantasy Football Club, and his team was as follows:
Shay Given
Gary Neville Rio Ferdinand Jonathan Woodgate Ashley Cole
Paul Scholes Steven Gerrard Frank Lampard
Nolberto Solano Craig Bellamy
Michael Owen
Dyer went onto tell the programme how Owen’s pace made him a pleasure to play alongside, and Alan Shearer only made his bench.
Woodgate’s spell at Newcastle is often forgotten, signed briefly in 2003, the club sensibly cashed in on the injury-prone defender to Real Madrid one year later.
Dyer suffered just as much with fitness troubles, spending eight seasons at the club, before moving to West Ham, where he made only 34 appearances in four seasons due to injuries. A former England international, he retired in 2013.
