Glasgow Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Kieran Dowell to Ibrox during the January transfer window.

Steven Gerrard, Manager of Rangers looks on prior to the UEFA Europa League Group G match between Rangers and Villarreal CF at Ibrox Stadium on November 29, 2018 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Rangers may now be top of the Scottish Premiership, but Steven Gerrard appears very keen to enjoy a busy January to give the Gers the best chance to end the club’s wait for some silverware.

The latest player linked with the Gers is Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell, with the Daily Mirror reporting on their live transfer blog (03/12; 15:09) that Gerrard wants to sign the youngster on loan.

Dowell is undoubtedly one of the brightest talents looking to break through at Goodison Park. The attacking midfielder scored nine goals during a loan spell with Nottingham Forest last season, and he could be a fantastic addition to the Gers squad next month.

And based on reports from The Sun on Sunday (14/10; page 61) back in October, it would perhaps be fair to suggest that Gerrard’s men have a great chance to get a deal done.

Kieran Dowell of Everton arrives for the Carabao Cup third round match between Everton and Southampton at Goodison Park on October 2, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

That report stated that Dowell was one of the Everton youngsters who was keen to leave Merseyside on loan in January.

Given that he has not played a single minute for Marco Silva’s side since that report emerged, you would be forgiven for assuming that he will be jumping at the chance to join Gerrard’s side upon hearing the reports.

Kieran Dowell of Everton runs with the ball during the Carabao Cup Second Round match between Everton and Rotherham United at Goodison Park on August 29, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Rangers appear ready to set up a title race this season and could potentially offer Europa League football during the second-half of the campaign depending on how they get on their final group clash, against Rapid Vienna.

And given that the Gers are on the front foot in most of the games they play, it could be a fantastic opportunity for Dowell to get the minutes he craves under his belt as he looks to catch the Toffees’ eye.
