Nottingham Forest had Kieran Dowell to thank as the Everton loanee scored a hat-trick in their 3-2 win over Hull on Saturday.

Kieran Dowell took to Twitter in the wake of Nottingham Forest’s win over Hull City to comment on scoring his first professional hat-trick in the impressive win.

Dowell has been a real shining light in an interesting season for Mark Warburton’s men, as they went into the clash with the Tigers with six wins and seven defeats in the Championship.

And the Everton loanee proved yet again why the Toffees perhaps made the wrong decision letting him leave Goodison Park for the City Ground as he scored a hugely impressive hat-trick to inspire Forest to a 3-2 win.

The first goal was particularly brilliant, as his vicious long-range strike left the Hull goalkeeper with little chance, while his second was a smart finish from inside the box before he rounded off the treble with a penalty during the final 10 minutes.

The three goals take his league tally for the season to five, meaning that only Daryl Murphy has scored more than the 20-year-old in the second tier for Forest this season.

And in the wake of the dramatic victory, Dowell took to social media to comment on the win and his own contribution.

Of course, Warburton would love for the youngster to continue putting in these fine displays, but he may also feel that if he continues to perform at such a high level, any chance of keeping him for longer will become slimmer, especially if Everton’s former under-23 boss David Unsworth does well enough during his time as Toffees caretaker boss that he gets the job on a permanent basis.
