Trusted to start at right-back against the League Two outfit, the 17-year-old scored the second goal of the night for Jurgen Klopp’s side in a 2-0 victory.
After signing a new long-term deal at the club during the summer, hopes are high that the Dutch talent is good enough to one day make a serious bid for regular first-team action at Anfield.
Competition is fierce of course, with Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of him, but displays like last night’s will do the prospect no harm at all.
He was obviously delighted with how his big night went, taking to Twitter to tell fans how good he felt after his header.
He’s now given Klopp a big reason to use him in future cup matches, or perhaps even as back-up to injured stars.
