Reigning champions Leicester City hosted Southampton but the midweek action in Europe seemed to hamper both sides, much to Foxes fans’ frustration.

It was a tired display at the King Power as Southamption held Leicester City to a goalless draw on Sunday.

Both teams were in action in their respective European competitions during the week but Saints manager Claude Puel made some key changes to his starting line up and it paid off as his team are now unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions.

The Foxes struggled to reach top gear after their Champions League action on Tuesday when they defeated FC Porto 1-0 and charged to the top of their group.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri said after the match that he was happy with the point and that the visitors played better football.

But home fans were less than impressed with their team’s display adding to the subdued start to the 16/17 campaign and took to twitter to share their frustration.

Many fans picked out Jamie Vardy’s performance as one that was particularly lacklustre

Meanwhile, Saints fans were happy with Southampton as they improved their defensive credentials with their sixth clean sheet in a row across all competitions.

Oriol Romeu was picked out by many as the hero of the day after his impressive performance which saw him make crucial blocks to deny Vardy and Islam Slimani

Southampton now sit in tenth place and will host Burnley after the international break while Leicester will head to Stamford Bridge to face seventh place Chelsea.
