Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos have been hit with a setback at Old Trafford after reports surfaced that a key figure is set to leave the club.
Since taking charge of football operations at Old Trafford, the Ineos regime has faced increased scrutiny following Ratcliffe’s minority stake purchase in Manchester United.
Ineos have made a series of unpopular decisions, including raising ticket prices and cutting staff as part of broader cost-saving efforts.
There has also been pressure on Ineos regarding Manchester United’s current season under Ruben Amorim, even though the Red Devils manager was strongly backed over the summer.
Ratcliffe’s team spent heavily in the summer, bringing in several high-profile signings such as Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo.
Fedorenko’s departure raises questions about Ineos’ direction
Luke Fedorenko has played an important role behind the scenes at Manchester United since he took over as head of academy recruitment in 2023.
His ties to the club go back even further, having joined the staff in 2017 and moving up through positions including academy lead scout and head of local recruitment.

Before that, he built his reputation at Sheffield United, where he was both academy chief scout and head of academy recruitment.
The report didn’t mention exactly when Fedorenko would be leaving but noted that he’d accepted a position with a new agency.
Which two signings did Luke Fedorenko help facilitate for Manchester United under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos regime?
During his time as head of academy recruitment, Luke Fedorenko played a notable role in strengthening Manchester United’s youth setup by helping to bring in young talent from across the league.
According to BBC Sport, Fedorenko was particularly involved in the signings of Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi, both of whom joined from Arsenal.

Chido Obi left Arsenal’s academy system in 2024, and since then, the 17-year-old Danish forward has had a few opportunities with United’s first team.
Ayden Heaven made the move to Old Trafford during the January transfer window and has also been given a run-out under Ruben Amorim.
