Wimmer has lined up alongside the Belgian in Spurs’ last two matches.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer has told the club’s official website that he has loved lining up alongside Toby Alderweireld in the centre of defence again.
Wimmer has partnered the Belgian at the back in each of the club’s last two matches with Jan Vertonghen absent from the side.
That has allowed the Austrian to rekindle his on-field relationship with Alderweireld, which served the club so well during Vertonghen’s extended spell on the sidelines last term.

The partnership has come as part of the three-at-the-back formation Mauricio Pochettino has been choosing to employ in recent weeks.
Wimmer told the club’s website that he likes the security offered by having two central defensive partners, but insisted that arguably the biggest external factor in his own game is having Alderweireld’s presence alongside him.
The 24-year-old explained: “I think three at the back is a very nice formation because you always have so many players next to you when you are defending.

“It’s also nice when you play next to Toby like Cameron [Carter-Vickers] and myself did on Sunday. It’s always good to have a man like him next to you because he’s very safe, very good on the ball, he wins the ball, he makes very good passes and he’s a great defender all-round.”
Wimmer has been restricted to just three Premier League appearances by the stiff competition for places at the back this season.
However, across the seven occasions in all competitions that he has been selected to start this term, Spurs have conceded a total of just eight goals, despite facing some stern opposition in Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and AS Monaco.
