Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer made just five Premier League appearances last season.
Kevin Wimmer has admitted to Sky Sport Austria that he is likely to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Wimmer found it difficult to break into Tottenham’s starting line-up over the past season, leaving his first-team chances limited.
And the centre-back is now weighing up his options, as he seeks a move away from Spurs.
“24 years of age is where it is most important to play regularly and not only have to train week after week and sit on the bench,” Wimmer said.
“In the next few days and weeks, the main focus will certainly be placed on what is there for offers.
“We will definitely look around, it’s time to look for something, where the chances of regular use are again higher.”
Wimmer played just five times for Tottenham in the Premier League last term, with Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen all ahead of him in Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order.
When called upon, Wimmer has largely been a solid option for Spurs, but Pochettino’s defensive options are very strong.
If Wimmer does leave Spurs this summer, as expected, the North London side are likely to bring in a new centre-back to replace him.
Spurs are yet to make a new signing this summer, with Pochettino’s side quiet in the transfer window to date.
