Glasgow Rangers loanee Jason Cummings arrived at Ibrox on loan during the January transfer window.

Cummings was one of the Light Blues’ additions during the January transfer window, and was arguably the signing who excited the supporters the most given his tremendous spell with Hibernian. And BBC Sport reported at the time that there was a clause in the deal that allowed the Gers to make the move permanent in the summer.

And Thomson has disclosed the conversation that he shared with the Nottingham Forest-owned forward when he recently bumped into him at Rangers’ training ground.
“I was saying ‘you should be in there, practising’. And he said ‘I’ve got a game tomorrow, Uncle T’. I said but you should be in there getting better.
“I said this is an amazing club and I said that these next five, six months for him should be as selfish as he can possibly be – which he is – to showcase his talents here, to hopefully be here long-term.”

It has been an encouraging start to life as part of Graeme Murty’s side for Cummings. He has scored two goals in all competitions in seven appearances – which is not a bad return when you consider that he has made just one league start.
One of those goals proved to be the winner in the Scottish Premiership clash with Ross County, while the other saw the 22-year-old demonstrate his class with an audacious finish in the 6-1 Scottish Cup win over Ayr.
He faces a difficult time trying to break into the Gers team on a regular basis however, with Alfredo Morelos currently enjoying an impressive run of form, and may be relying on Murty reverting to a system that involves deploying two strikers if he wants significantly more game-time this term.
But Thomson may feel that if Cummings takes his advice on board in the coming weeks, the charismatic forward can force his way into the side on a regular basis before his loan comes to an end.
