Rangers remain behind Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

Kevin Thomson has told the Scotsman that he believes Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor is better than Celtic stopper Craig Gordon, as the two continue to battle for Scotland#s number one jersey.
Celtic man Gordon, 35, started between the sticks during the 4-0 loss to Belgium in which he could have done little about reducing the scoreline – perhaps being slightly disappointed with failing to keep out Eden Hazard’s vicious effort.
Rangers summer signing McGregor, 36, has shone for Steven Gerrard’s side since returning to Ibrox for the first time since leaving in 2012, and it saw him earn a call-up to Alex McLeish’s side.
Thomson, who has rejoined Rangers as a youth coach, believes McGregor is the better of the two goalkeepers mainly due to the former Hull City and Bursaspor star’s will to win.
“He’s top class. He edges it over Craig Gordon and I’ve always thought that,” Thomson said. “They’re both top notch and we’re fortunate to have them – it’s only healthy for Scotland that they’ll fight it out and keep each other on their toes.
“The biggest attribute Greegs had when I was at Rangers – apart from his moaning – was his will to win. In five-a-sides in training I’ve never seen a goalie try so hard to stop a ball going into the net, even when his team were three or four down.”

McGregor started in goal for Scotland in their Nations League opener against Albania this week, which saw him produce a number of strong saves as Rangers earned an excellent 2-0 win thanks to an own goal and a Steven Naismith header.
Both goalkeepers have almost identical stats so far this season, with both conceding seven goals and keeping six clean sheets, though Gordon has played one more match than McGregor, turning out 12 times.
