Former Glasgow Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson spent three years at Ibrox.

Kevin Thomson has told The Rangers’ Podcast that he never realised how appreciated he was within the Gers’ fanbase until joining social media.
The 33-year-old midfielder spent three years at Ibrox until 2010 after former Rangers boss Walter Smith spent £2 million (Scottish Sun) on bringing him in from Hibernian in 2007.
The three-time Scotland international helped the Gers to two Premiership titles in 2009 and 2010, before swapping Glasgow for Teeside and joining Middlesbrough.

But Thomson, who returned to Rangers as a youth coach this week, admits that he had no idea how well thought of he was within the club’s fanbase until joining Twitter.
“It’s humbling for me to think that I left the club nearly eight years ago now and the backing I still receive off the fans,” he told The Rangers’ podcast.

“I probably never realised the fans appreciated me and respected me as much as they did until I’ve obviously been part of social media in the last year or so.
“The continued support that I receive is overwhelming at times. I’m just delighted.”
Thomson, who also won a Scottish Cup and two Scottish League Cups during his stint at Ibrox, was a tough-tackling presence in midfield, and the likes of Andy Halliday and Ryan Jack are measured against his influence.
