Rangers progressed into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on Wednesday night.
Kevin Thomson has described Rangers’ second-half performance as “sloppy” despite their 3-1 win over Cowdenbeath in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on Wednesday night.
Rangers got off to a flyer, with Andy Halliday slamming home a left-footed effort from the edge of the area after being given the captain’s armband by manager Steven Gerrard for the night.
Kyle Lafferty’s flicked header saw Jermain Defoe’s effort blocked, before Lassana Coulibaly found the net from six yards out. Lafferty made it three, sliding the ball home before half-time after a good ball from Ryan Jack.
However, Rangers took their foot off the gas in the second half and Jon Flangan conceded a penalty, which was saved by Wes Foderingham – before David Cox tapped in the rebound. The result remained at 3-1, and Thomson reacted on Twitter.
Rangers have booked their place in the next round, which is a trip to Rugby Park to face Kilmarnock – a side Rangers lost to in the Scottish Premiership earlier this month. The tie will be played on February 9.
Meanwhile, focus will switch to Saturday as the Gers play host to St. Mirren at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership. They will be hoping Celtic drop points to St. Johnstone on Sunday.
