Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have signed nine players so far.
Kevin Thomson has told The Glasgow Evening Times that people on social media are comparing Rangers new boy Ryan Jack to him.
The Scottish midfielder joined Rangers from Aberdeen earlier this summer, becoming the second of nine pre-season recruits by manager Pedro Caixinha so far.
Jack will add a bite to the Gers’ midfield which they perhaps lacked under Mark Warburton last season, as the Ibrox side finished third and 39 points behind champions Celtic.
And Thomson, who spent three years at the club until 2010, has claimed to The Glasgow Evening Times that quite a few people on social media are telling him that the ex-Dons man is “a bit similar” to how he used to play.
“I haven’t been involved on social media for that long but I have had a lot of people recently telling me that Ryan Jack is a bit similar to myself and a player that Rangers have been missing.
“They thought the team needed a player like myself, although I think I had a bit more bite than Ryan has got and was a bit more aggressive.”
Jack is one of only two Scots to arrive at Ibrox this summer and this has been predicted to be a problem.
Rangers have signed a lot of good players, but very few of them understand Scottish football, and particularly the expectation levels at the club, so it remains to be seen if Jack and Graham Dorrans can coach them through it.
