Former Wolverhampton Wanderers man Kevin Thelwell is under consideration for a big role at Newcastle United following their takeover.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Thelwell is on the wish list of Newcastle’s new owners ahead of a possible move.
Not only are PIF looking to secure a new manager following Steve Bruce’s exit, but they now want a director of football too.
A number of foreign candidates have been touted, but Thelwell is now thought to be on the radar too.
Thelwell may be something of a surprise name in the mix, especially with the likes of Luis Campos and Marc Overmars linked.
Who is Newcastle target Kevin Thelwell?
Thelwell started out as a youth coach with Preston North End before Billy Davies took him to Derby County.
The 47-year-old became Wolves’ Under-18 boss in 2008, moving up to academy manager in 2013 before then becoming sporting director.

Last year, Thelwell left Wolves to take up the role of sporting director at New York Red Bulls.
Newcastle’s new owners have clearly been impressed with his work and now want Thelwell at St James’ Park.
The Englishman could emerge as a serious yet surprising candidate to lead Newcastle’s transfers moving forward.
Newcastle fans would likely prefer a bigger name, but Thelwell is one to keep a close eye on now.
