“I’m really pleased with the time it gives me. I’d say it’s a relief just to know that I’m here and I might have bad times but I’ve still got time to turn it around.

“That’s the main thing for me, and just knowing that the club want me here is important.”

While it’s unlikely for Stewart to be a regular starter in the first team this season, he has been used on several occasions as the man who comes on to help the side see games out when they’re tight, and he usually starts games when the side is being heavily rotated.

He seems to be an intelligent footballer who knows his limitations while there are areas of his game that he has been working on in his passing and reading of the game.

Stewart comes across as one of those players who is pretty pleased with his game time and happy to be used as a squad option. With a talented and competitive squad, sometimes you are going to need that.
