Everton legend Kevin Ratcliffe has outlined in The Liverpool Echo the doubt he has regarding Watford manager Marco Silva.

According to BBC Sport, Everton are interested in appointing Silva as their new manager.

The Portuguese coach has been in charge of the Hornets since the summer of 2017 and is doing a wonderful job at Vicarage Road at the moment.

Silva was the manager of Hull City from January 2017 until the end of last season.

Although the Tigers’ performances under the 40-year-old improved and there were some very encouraging results, they failed to retain their Premier League status for the 2017-18 campaign and got relegated to the Championship.

Former Everton defender Ratcliffe, who is a legend at Goodison Park, has pointed out that Silva failed to keep Hull in the top flight of English football.

“As for Marco Silva, my biggest concern is that he got Hull relegated – simple as that,” Ratcliffe wrote in The Liverpool Echo.

“I’ve heard nothing but good things about his time at Hull and how he lifted them, but remember he was given as much time as Mickey Phelan was and he still got relegated.

“I know they were in a rut when he arrived, but he still took them down, and after bringing in plenty of players too.

“That’s a worry, and I had the same issue when Roberto Martinez was appointed. He came after taking Wigan down, conceded too many goals and the same issues were there at Everton.”

Everton are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the moment, and they need a manager who can improve results rightaway.

However, it must be noted that the Toffees do have a good squad who can still challenge for a top-10 finish in the Premier League this season.
