Kevin Ratcliffe is worried about Everton’s lack of aggression.

Former Everton player and club legend Kevin Ratcliffe said in the Liverpool Echo that he is worried about the Toffees’ lack of aggression this season.

Despite spending heavily this summer, Everton find themselves 16^th in the Premier League table, with only seven points on board.

The Toffees have won just once in their last seven Premier League games. But more than the results, it is the overall lackadaisical performance that has been a worrying sign.

The new signings – especially the big money signings – are struggling to make a strong impact, while the old guards are failing to raise their game as well.

Ratcliffe notes that there are plenty of things wrong with Everton at the moment, and one of them is that the players are lacking aggression.

He says that the quality of players signed in the summer were supposed to be “all about high pressure and closing down”, but he can’t find that in this team at the moment.

The 56-year-old is also worried about Everton’s lack of pace, and feels it is one of the main reasons why the Toffees are struggling to break the opposition down.

Ratcliffe has rightly pointed out that Koeman’s constant “chopping and changing the starting line-up” is not helping the side at all.

“Ronald Koeman has talked about a lack of aggression after several games this season and he’s absolutely right,” wrote Ratcliffe for The Liverpool Echo.

“I thought the people we brought to the club were supposed to be all about high pressure and closing down, but I can’t see where those qualities have gone.

“And when you have no pace in the side you have to do that even more because you have to win the ball higher up the pitch to be effective, because we simply haven’t got the pace to break at teams.

“I know Ronald Koeman is trying to find the right formation but at the moment we look a long way away from even where we were last season. We need a turning point to the season – and quickly.”
