Former West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan has spoken on talkSPORT today (07/10/2016) about the current situation at his former club, and the ability of manager Slaven Bilic to handle the situation.

Nolan spent four years at West Ham after being singed by his former Bolton and Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce.

He was a hit at West Ham for his goalscoring heroics but was not a player that new manager Slaven Bilic envisaged having a long-term impact with the club.

In August 2015 Nolan left West Ham amicably after agreeing with Bilic and the club to end his contract by mutual consent.

There is clearly no ill-feeling between Bilic and Nolan as the midfielder made it clear on talkSPORT that he feels the Croatian has the right attitude to take the club out of their current struggles:

“That’s Slaven’s demeanour. This is what I loved about Slaven when I first met him anyway. He never got too carried away with what was happening last season.

“They had a great season at the Boleyn last but he never got excited. He was always that calm influence on the media and the television. Now because they’ve lost a few it’s ‘he’s looking a bit shaky’.

“I think he’s got the character. He’s an experienced international manager and played for top clubs and I think he is so in control.”

West Ham are currently sitting 18th in the Premier League, despite their excellent performances from last season.

Injury worries and the move to their new stadium have certainly played a part in their early struggles and hopefully West Ham can soon start finding results again – with Bilic at the helm.
