Kevin Mirallas may need Diego Simeone to save his Everton career

Everton winger Kevin Mirallas was once wanted by Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone could be the man to save Kevin Mirallas from his Everton exile.

Simeone has been linked with the Everton job in recent weeks, with the Argentine said to be Farhad Moshiri’s first choice.

Although it would be a major surprise if Everton were able to bring Simeone to Goodison Park, Mirallas could be forgiven for hoping that it comes true.

Sky Sports reported earlier this week how Mirallas had been sent home from training by David Unsworth for showing a lack of effort.

If Unsworth remains in charge at Everton, Mirallas’ future on Merseyside looks very much in doubt.

However, if Simeone was to join, then Mirallas may well come back into contention.

Mirallas revealed to the Daily Mail in 2015 that Simeone is a fan of his and tried to bring him to Atletico Madrid.

Everton rejected the Spanish side’s advances at that time, and Mirallas has been at Goodison Park ever since.

But Mirallas may now be relying on Simeone to take charge, if he is to be given another chance at Everton.
