Kevin Mbabu’s career has gone from strength to strength since leaving Newcastle United.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez sold the 23-year-old defender to Young Boys in his native Switzerland last summer, with Mbabu helping them to their first league title in 32 years.

Consequence of his form, the full-back has been linked with a big move away from the Bern-based club and Manchester United were even reported to be interested earlier this summer [Fussball Info].

Mbabu only managed three league appearances for the Magpies during the four years that he was on their books, with injury being a major factor in his failure to make the grade at St James’s Park.

Some Newcastle fans wouldn’t be adverse to the prospect of seeing him return to the North East one day – and maybe Mbabu himself isn’t against that idea either.

Asked during a Snapchat Q & A whether he’d want to re-sign for United or return to the Premier League in general, he wrote: “My dream is to come back to the Premier League so let’s see.”

Sky Sport’s Transfer Blog [18/07/2018, 08:38] reported that the Swiss side are looking for around £10 million for Mbabu, who has also interested Premier League new boys Fulham recently.

It wouldn’t be a great look for Newcastle or Benitez if he joins the Cottagers this summer and rips it up in England’s top flight from here on in.
