Aston Villa beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 this afternoon.

Aston Villa came from behind to beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 in the first leg of their playoff semi-final today.
Dwight Gayle’s first-half opener separated both sides for most of the game.
But a Conor Hourihane stunner on 75 minutes drew Aston Villa level, before Tammy Abraham netted a penalty four minutes later to complete the comeback.
It went from bad to worse for West Brom soon after when Gayle was given a second yellow card.
Kevin Kilbane says that the Albion hitman was ‘outstanding’ today and says that his absence for the return leg is a ‘massive blow’ for the Baggies.
It’s a huge win for Dean Smith’s side, who now bring a slender advantage to The Hawthorns on Tuesday night.
Beating the Villans was already a big ask for Albion, given their form, but without their best striker and talisman it could be very, very difficult from here on in.
