Everton could only manage a draw with Brighton at the AMEX Stadium, but Koeman was quick to look towards the positives after the match.
The Dutch boss praised his side’s commitment to the cause, but Kilbane did not see much to be positive about from an Everton perspective.
“Koeman felt his side showed “commitment” and “aggression” at the Amex Stadium and, late on, perhaps he was right – but I did not see that from his players for most of the game,” Kilbane said.
“Yes, it does take a bit of character to get something out of a game when you are not playing well, and Everton did that.
“And I am not saying they are not playing for Koeman any longer, because that is something you only know for sure if you are inside the dressing room yourself.
“But the pressure on Koeman is largely down to the way the team is playing, as well as their underwhelming results.
“So, despite his attempts to find some positives, Sunday’s game did not do much to help his cause.”
Everton’s result at Brighton could have been much worse, if Wayne Rooney did not rescue a point for the Toffees in the last minute.
Everton had fallen behind when Anthony Knockaert scored from the penalty spot.
But the Toffees quickly responded, when Rooney managed to net from the penalty spot.
Rooney’s strike may just have saved Koeman’s job at Goodison Park, with the pressure mounting on the Everton boss.
The Toffees are currently in 16th place in the Premier League table, after a highly disappointing start to the campaign.
