Jack Grealish and Declan Rice both started for England on Sunday night, and you couldn’t really blame any Ireland fans for being a tad frustrated.

England lost 2-0 to Belgium in a disappointing display last night, as Romelu Lukaku and Dries Mertens fired the hosts to a win in Leuven.

Ireland also lost as they were beaten by Wales, and they had to see both Grealish and Rice in action for the Three Lions.

Grealish was the star of the show last night, finally making his mark for England more than five years since deciding to turn his back on Ireland.

The playmaker had featured for Ireland at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-21 levels, but ultimately chose England – and Rice did the same.

Rice even went as far as playing in three friendly games for Ireland before switching to England in 2019, sparking uproar.

Pundit Kevin Kilbane – who was born in Preston but represented Ireland – has now taken to Twitter to suggest that he isn’t keen on English players featuring for Ireland.

Kilbane added that he doesn’t want Patrick Bamford to switch to play for Ireland either, despite the Leeds United striker being in superb form with seven goals in eight games this season.

Bamford played for Ireland’s Under-18’s before then turning out for England at youth level. He hasn’t been capped at senior level and could still play for Ireland, but Kilbane isn’t keen – even though Ireland need a goalscorer.
