Kieran Trippier has had a mixed season for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

BBC Sport pundit Kevin Kilbane believes Napoli’s reported interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier would be a ‘good move’ for the player.

The Independent have claimed that the Serie A giants are confident of landing Tottenham’s main right-back this summer and they are hoping to pay around £25 million for his services.

It is said that Napoli are in pole position to sign the England international, who hasn’t been able to rediscover the form that saw him win huge plaudits during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Speaking to Off the Ball’s official YouTube account, former Premier League defender Kilbane shared his thoughts on a possible transfer for Trippier this summer.

“It’s a good deal [for Trippier],” Kilbane told Off the Ball. “It would be great for him. He has the technical ability that could certainly cut it in one of the top European leagues, definitely. For him to go in [at Napoli], that’d be a great signing or move for him if he were to go there.

“Would Tottenham let him go? I’d be sitting on the fence a little on that one. It’d be great for him if he were to go, but I doubt given the position Tottenham are in, they can’t really afford to let anybody go because there’s going to be no real money available to go for the big signings.”

At this moment in time, Trippier will be focused on the Champions League final which takes place on June 1st in Madrid, with Spurs having the chance to win their first major trophy under Mauricio Pochettino.

It is highly likely that Trippier will start the encounter given the fact that he has been a regular this term, but it remains to be seen what formation Pochettino plays.

If Trippier does start then he’ll come up against Sadio Mane on the night, who is in devastating form as the Liverpool man will no doubt be a difficult player to handle.
