Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff has enjoyed a breakthrough season at St James’ Park before injury cut short his campaign.

BBC Sport pundit Kevin Kilbane has admitted that Sean Longstaff’s reported move away from Newcastle United this summer would be a ‘bad idea’.
The Sun recently claimed that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants transfers completed before pre-season, with one of the players including Newcastle’s Longstaff.
It is said along with the likes of Swansea winger Daniel James, midfielder Longstaff is on the radar of the Old Trafford club after he had a breakthrough season at St James’ Park.
Speaking to Off the Ball’s official YouTube account (24/05/2019), former Premier League defender Kilbane states why Longstaff shouldn’t be making the move to Manchester.
“A good player,” Kilbane told Off the Ball. “It’s still too early in my mind. He’s not played enough football, certainly at the top level.
“The games that I have seen him play, very good footballer and a technically good footballer [But] it’s too early for that one [Longstaff to United]. Bad idea [for] now.”

There is no doubt that Longstaff has a long way to go and he’ll want to prove and make a name for himself in front of the Toon Army faithful before he thinks of other ideas.
Since the turn of the year, Longstaff became a regular under Rafa Benitez and one of the reasons behind that was because of the long list of injuries at the club.
That paved the way for him to be given starts, and when he was awarded with one, he never looked back and he proved his worth to his manager and supporters.
