Kevin Kilbane believes reported Wolverhampton Wanderers target Moussa Marega would be a good fit for the club

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be hoping to have a busy summer transfer window as they plan for European football next season.

Kevin Kilbane has stated that Wolves’ reported interest for Porto striker Moussa Marega would be a ‘good deal’ for the club as he highlighted the ‘problem’ he caused Liverpool in the Champions League earlier on in the season.

The Mirror recently claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are heading the chase for the £30 million Porto hitman as they have made him their priority this summer.

It is said that Nuno was delighted with their top seven finish this term, but he wants to bolster his striking options as he aims for a pathway into the Premier League’s top-six.

Speaking to Off the Ball’s official YouTube account (24/05/2019), former Premier League defender Kilbane shared why Marega would be a good addition to the Wolves team.

“Did he score six or seven goals in the Champions League?” Kilbane questioned on Off the Ball. “He caused Liverpool a lot of problems that they played at Anfield and then went out to Porto for the second leg.

“He’s a handful. He’s not the best looking of players in terms of aesthetically when you’re watching a footballer, but he’s awkward and difficult to play against. He’s strong and quick.

“I could see that one [transfer to Wolves]. Deal wise, money wise, what would they take? His record this season has actually been quite good. Good deal, given the money that goes around for strikers now, that’d be a good deal now.”

It has been quite a rise for Nuno and his players in recent seasons because they have gone from sitting midtable in the Championship two seasons ago to earning promotion last term and now the success of this campaign.

With it, the Midlands outfit have played a forward-thinking and attacking brand of football which has seen them win plaudits from many across the footballing world.

But the next campaign will no doubt be their toughest yet. If they can qualify for the group stages of the Europa League then they will have Europe to contend with. On top of that, they’ll be a marked team in the Premier League given their recent success.
