There is pressure mounting on Marco Silva as Everton’s season starts in an indifferent manner following their defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday.

Kevin Kilbane has backed Everton supporters for walking out early in ‘disgust’ during their 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United at Goodison Park over the weekend.
Marco Silva’s side produced a poor showing in front of their own supporters, with Lys Mousset netting United’s second goal 10 minutes from time, as the home fans made their feelings well known.
This season, Everton’s problem has been their inability to put the ball into the back of the net, and their away form, but on Saturday, they suffered their first home defeat since February.
Speaking to Final Score on BBC One (21//09/2019 at 16:50 pm), Kilbane backed the actions of Everton supporters, as he criticised Silva’s side for producing yet another poor performance.
“I said earlier on as the game progresses, once Sheffield United score, it would be very difficult to play in that stadium,” Kilbane told Final Score.
“There will be a lot of heat put on the players. And, rightly they have walked out in disgust because it has been another poor performance, as it has been for a lot of games this season under Marco Silva. It has been a really poor showing.”

There’s no doubt that the Toffees are pushing for Europe this season, and if Silva’s side don’t challenge for those places then questions will be asked.
Added with that, they are also hoping to put together a strong cup run, with Everton facing Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
Then their toughest test of the season awaits them when they host Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City next Saturday, with the Premier League champions putting eight passed Watford last time out.
