Ex-Wolves star has been impressed by club’s start to the season
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kevin Foley has praised the performances that the club have produced this season under the guidance of manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Wolves have made a flying start to the season and are top of the Championship, two points clear of their closest challengers Sheffield United.
Foley was part of the last Wolves team to earn promotion to the Premier League in 2009 and the 33-year-old is delighted with the way in which the current side have performed this season.
“I’m glad to see it’s working and it seems like they’ve got a really good manager,” Foley told the Express and Star
“Some of the players, I haven’t known a lot about them before but when you talk about Champions League experience with Porto etc Wolves have done well to get them at the club.
“The proof’s in the pudding. They’re quality players and they’re proving it week in, week out.
“The Championship is the hardest league I’ve ever played in but they’re getting results home and away.”
Wolves are back in action on Saturday when they travel to face Reading, with a midweek game at home to Leeds United to follow thereafter as they aim to continue to set the pace at the top of the table.
Nuno’s side have been especially effective as an attacking force so far this season – they have scored 29 goals in the league so far, more than any other team in the division has mustered.
The manager’s decision to bring in Leo Bonatini on loan from Al-Hilal has certainly proven to be inspired – the forward is currently the leading scorer in the Championship with ten goals, while he has provided four assists.
