Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant has responded to a fan who mocked him over the empty seats at Tuesday’s 119–113 win over the Chicago Bulls.
The post gained traction after a video showed gaps in the Toyota Center crowd early in the first quarter.
Durant, who joined the Rockets to lead one of the NBA’s most talented rosters, quickly defended the city’s fans.
His reply showed both his trademark argumentativeness and understanding of Houston’s basketball culture.

The conversation started when a popular NBA fan account, BrickCenter, posted a video of tip-off at the Toyota Center.
Their caption read: “The Rockets have Kevin Durant and the seats are EMPTY.”
Durant did not let the comment go unanswered. He responded: “We’re fashionably late down here champ.
“Check back round mid 2nd quarter and it’s a different picture. Been that way in Houston since I’ve been in the League.”
Rockets fans filled the replies agreeing with him, noting that Houston crowds often arrive later but always bring energy once the game gets going.
Durant’s message reflected both his familiarity with the city and his leadership as the face of the franchise.

The Rockets’ win over Chicago kept them sixth in the Western Conference at 23–14, firmly in the playoff mix.
Expectations were high from the start of the season after Durant’s arrival, with many predicting a deep postseason run.
The two-time Finals MVP has been central to that push, leading by example with consistent scoring and playmaking.
Around him, young stars Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Jabari Smith Jr. have flourished under head coach Ime Udoka.
The Rockets’ home record remains among the best in the NBA, with the Toyota Center often providing an exciting atmosphere, even if only in the second half.
