Despite their struggles this season, Liverpool remain an ‘exceptional’ football team.

That’s the view of Manchester City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne who was speaking to BeIN Sport before this evening’s Premier League clash at Anfield.

It’s a massive encounter on Merseyside but it’s arguably a bigger game for Liverpool.

Defeat would leave Jurgen Klopp’s side 16 points behind the reigning champions following what’s been an awful start to the campaign.

The Reds have won just two of their first eight domestic outings this season.

But De Bruyne has warned his City teammates that Liverpool remain a very dangerous side.

He told BeIN Sport: “They’re a tough team to play against. They play a style that is difficult to control over 90 minutes, so they’re always going to have good spells. The quality they have is exceptional, so it’s always hard to play against them.”

De Bruyne is right and Pep Guardiola will be well aware of how good today’s opponent can be.

After all, they won 7-1 away to Rangers in the Champions League a few days ago and although City is obviously a different proposition entirely, their ruthless manner of scoring at Ibrox is a reminder of their talent.

Mohamed Salah came off the bench to score a six-minute hat-trick in Glasgow to remind the continent of his ability and today it’ll be a fascinating contest.
