Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has been sidelined for almost a year with a long-term knee injury.
Everton icon Kevin Campbell has told long-term absentee Yannick Bolasie that he has been “sorely missed” on Twitter as the speed machine nears an eventual comeback from injury.
Bolasie, 28, has been sidelined with a nasty knee injury that has prevented him from pulling on the blue of Everton since 4 December last year after suffering the problem during a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.
After extensive rehabilitation, former Crystal Palace winger Bolasie has told Everton’s official website that he is “coming to the end” of his long injury lay-off.
Former Everton captain Campbell reacted to his comments, urging Bolasie to “return stronger” as the Toffees continue to struggle in the Premier League.
Everton signed Bolasie from Palace in the summer of 2016 for a fee worth £25million, but the fleet-footed speed machine managed just 15 appearances in all competitions before suffering the injury.
Interim manager David Unsworth is in desperate need of a spark from somewhere if he is to change Everton’s fortunes and push them further up the table – as well as strengthening his case for the permanent Toffees job.
The return of Bolasie could give him just that, but it remains to be seen when the DR Congo international will return to first-team action. Everton are next in action against Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday night at Goodison Park.
