Former Everton captain Kevin Campbell has been impressed with new Toffees signing Richarlison’s opening Tweet to Everton fans, and believes the former Watford flyer will be a good signing at Goodison Park.

The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Everton to become new manager Marco Silva’s first signing, setting up a reunion with the Portuguese manager on Merseyside.

Silva first signed the fleet-footed attacker from Brazilian side Fluminense at Watford, and has now decided to splash the cash by bringing him to Everton this summer.

Richarlison promised to “give 100% commitment and effort on the pitch” among other things, and Campbell was more than impressed with the Brazilian’s apparent desire to impress. He also believes that Richarlison will prove his transfer fee.

Doubts have arisen over whether Richarlison is worth such an astronomical figure, after only managing to score five goals in the Premier League for Watford last season.

Richarlison could pull the blue of Everton’s jersey on for the first time on Thursday, as Everton face Championship side Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

He faces a fight to be considered first choice, with Theo Walcott, Ademola Lookman, Yannick Bolasie and Nikola Vlasic all vying for a place in the starting line-up.
