Kevin Blackwell said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds last Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, September 16, 2016) that it will be tough for Leeds United to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

Leeds have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and have become also-rans in the Championship.

The Whites, though, remain one of the biggest clubs in England and have lofty ambitions this season.

The West Yorkshire outfit are aiming to clinch a playoff spot in the Championship during the 2016-17 campaign.

Former Leeds manager Blackwell believes that it will be tough for Garry Monk’s side to finish in the top six this season.

Blackwell has also suggested that the Whites will get an indication of how their season will pan out after 10 or 11 games.

“I think it will be tough, to be honest with you, for Leeds,” said Blackwell on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds last Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, September 16, 2016) when asked if the playoffs are realistic for Leeds this season.

“I think where you are after 10 games is a big indication of where you will finish the season. One or two clubs will move into the top six or the bottom five or six, but generally where you are after 10 games is generally where you finish.

“It’s going to be key now that they get some quick results and I think after 10, 11 games, that’s going to be an indication of how the season will be.”

Leeds’s start to the season was far from ideal, but things appear to be improving for the Whites.

The West Yorkshire outfit won 2-1 against Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road in the Championship last week.

Then on Saturday afternoon, Monk’s side got the better of Cardiff City 2-0 away from home at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Leeds are 15th in the Championship table at the moment with 10 points from eight matches.
