Martin Keown said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One (10:49pm, March 14, 2021) that Arsenal players were stunned by Erik Lamela’s goal for Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby.

Lamela scored one of the best goals in English football history during the Premier League game between Arsenal and Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Argentina international, who can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, found the back of the net in the 33rd minute with a ‘rabona’.

True, Lamela was sent off in the 76th minute and Spurs lost the North London derby 2-1, but the goal from the former AS Roma star will be talked about for years to come.

Arsenal legend Keown was impressed by the goal from Lamela, and he noted that Mikel Arteta’s players were shocked at the strike from the 29-year-old.

Keown said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One (10:49pm, March 14, 2021): “If you see the Arsenal players, they are almost stunned because of the way he parted his legs. Brilliant piece of skill. Nice improvisation too. Brilliant.”

However, Spurs are still very much in the running for the Premier League top four, and head coach Jose Mourinho will be determined to get his players back up and get going again.

As for Arsenal, the win has renewed their hopes of finishing in the Premier League top four this season.
