The Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur players have to form a better partnership for their country going forward.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has been speaking to the Daily Mail about the partnership between Gunners winger Theo Walcott and Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kyle Walker for England.

The Arsenal player has been in fine form this season, but he could not replicate that at international level as the Three Lions struggled to a win and a draw in their World Cup qualifying matches against Malta and Slovenia respectively.

Walcott linked up with his fierce Spurs rival earlier this week and Keown for one feels they should be getting more out of the partnership.

“With his club, playing wide on the right is only a starting position,” Keown said. “He is always looking to link up and it allows Hector Bellerin to bomb forwards.

“It should be no different for Walcott with Kyle Waker on the right for England.”

Walker has been in superb form for Tottenham this season and he has arguably outshone even Bellerin in recent months.

However, it seems there is work to be done on the training field before Walcott is as effective with the Tottenham player as he is with his Arsenal teammate.

That is no surprise given the amount of time he spends with the two players, but if England can get the partnership right it should see them putting teams like Slovenia to the sword rather than struggling their way to a point.
